#LukaMagnotta : The Making Of A Monster.

WARNING: Story contains graphic content

He has become famous, in part, because of an 11-minute video. But experts say footage that allegedly shows Luka Rocco Magnotta committing murder is actually part of a larger, highly crafted “production” playing out on televisions, computer monitors and newspaper pages around the world.
The story has unfolded dramatically: From a foot sent in the mail Tuesday to the Conservative Party’s headquarters in Ottawa; to a torso discovered in a suitcase in Montreal; to the 29-year-old suspect’s possible friendship with notorious schoolgirl killer Karla Homolka; to back in 2010, when Mr. Magnotta was linked to an online video showing kittens being suffocated using a vacuum cleaner.
“It’s certainly deliberately manoeuvred in its stagecraft,” said Philip Simpson, author of Psycho Paths: Tracking the Serial Killer Through Contemporary American Film and Fiction and an adjunct professor at Florida’s Brevard Community College. “Here’s this transgressive monster who can strike with relative impunity and then disappear back into the shadows.” more
